How do you place a photo of yourself as a member?

First, select the photograph you want to use as your Avatar

Check the size and reduce it, if necessary to no more than 90 x 90 pixels, 6 kb. (Rename it if you want to save the original sized photo and remember where you saved it!!)

On The Drawing Forum webite click on “My TDF Panel” and select “User Control Panel”

Click on “Profile”

Click on “Edit avatar”

At “Upload from your machine” click the “Browse” button

Navigate to where you saved your photo and select it (double click)

Click “Submit”

(If it’s too big, it won’t go (you'll see the red x) – if it’s good to go, you’ll see it immediately)

When you enter into the "forum section" you will see at the menu bar at the top of the page, "my tdf panel", hover your mouse over that, and you will see a drop down box. Go down to "user control panel", click on that.
Then you will see two blue bands at the top of the page. The top one says User Control Panel, and under it, one of the icons says "edit avatar". Click on that... then you will recognize how to upload a photo. the photo may have to be resized, so use this link to read Mikes post about resizing.

If that link doesnt work...try this direct link to the site

Hope this helps!

Hi Janet. I noticed you still don't have your avatar uploaded. Lynn gave you good advice but if you're having problems, email me your photo and I'll resize it and post it for you.

How do i get my avatar to fit your size requirements Mike. I have tried several times to get it to 9ks without sucess or making it way too smal. What's the technique and format to use? I see many members haven't uploaded an avitar so wonder if they too are having problems, like me,lol.

I know you have Photoshop Edith so... Reduce the avatar to 90px on the longest side, then in the top menu:
File > Save for web > select JPG > set quality to Medium if necessary

If you're using dual view you should see the file size below the right hand image. Click OK and you're done.

Or, if you still can't manage it, send it to me and I'll resize and post it for you.

Later I might increase the permitted file size but I'm being cautious until I see how the server is handling the available storage space.

I looked in my control panel for the avatar upload button and it is not there..... do I need to have a certain amount of posts in order to be able to have a avatar?
