Introduction and Question

Postby Jonathans » Mon Oct 03, 2016 6:38 pm

Hi,
I am an aspiring engraver/carver, and am struggling a bit with my drawing skills, which are a prerequisite to any good work.
I recently carved a Hobo Nickel with a folded ear, which I thought would be comical. However, some folks just didn't think it looked like a folded ear, so I am wonering where I went wrong. Here is a picture of my preliminary study, and a shot of the finished coin. Any suggestions really appreciated.

I guess the problem stated was that the ear is completely folded over flat rather than being pushed down and out by the hat.
